Please full view, people!

This isn't actually an original piece, per se... It's based on an actual person, who wore these clothes to the convention I attended a few weeks ago, known as Dragon*Con.

Ain't she pretty? She's a very sweet girl too.

While Dahlia is the name of her persona, her real name is Jessy, and she wore this outfit as part of an original steampunk group (think Tank Girl meets Jules Verne) with ~VladislausDantes, ~onewhospinsflags, and a few other people. They call themselves sky pirates, The Outlanders, and their costumes were all designed and pieced together themselves, and nearly all of the props, including Dahlia's mallet, were made by ~VladislausDantes, whose brilliant craftsmanship will stun and amaze you. (Some Hellsing fans may recognize him as a frequent Alucard cosplayer on the con circuit.)

And despite my usual apathy towards OCs, I was very much inspired by their costumes as I saw them firsthand and in person. I was so awed by the originality put into their costumes that I nearly assumed it was cosplay for some obscure anime/comic/movie that I was not aware of. So once the con ended I requested permission to draw their characters, to which I received an enthusiastic response.

I started sketching out Dahlia's character last, however, since her design is fairly simple and--I'll admit--the most fun, she got finished rather quickly. I cut the sketch off at her belt because her outfit alternates between a hip scarf and a pleated skirt and I couldn't choose. I'll be sure to express more of her cute personality in drawings in the future; this is really just a practice run for myself. Stay tuned for Laurilye and Vincent very soon.
