I hope everybody had a very merry Christmas(or are currently enjoying a very happy Hannukah ^_~)! x3 I got some new artsy stuffs, yays~ <3 I wanna try to get savvy with the traditional media again, and at the same time adapt to my new Wacom Tablet. >.o It's like trying to use a computer mouse for the very first time, except it's a pen! xD This particular piece, however, was drawn a few days ago with pencil on paper, then scanned and edited in Photoshop. I wanted to wait until after the Christmas madness before posting it here on DA. ^_^
If you haven't guessed already by my Akabane/Ayame fanart, I hold a fondness for crossovers, in which I pair a character from one anime with another from a different anime, depending on their similarities and the likelihood of something "happening" between them should their separate universes cross. I can see PLENTY of possibilities with Alucard and Abel here, with both of them being vampires(Abel dons a human guise to hide his vampiristic self, known as Krsenik 02) and working under religious organizations, Hellsing and the Vatican. Then there's Sir Integra and Cardinal Caterina, both strong-willed women who order Alucard and Abel around, respectively. Like Alucard met Integra, Abel saved Caterina's life when she was quite young. From there he swore to protect her and all of humankind.. and therein lies the big contrast between Alucard's and Abel's personalities, which I think makes the pairing idea very interesting. I could go on and on, but I'll spare you. This time. xD
Background info aside, I tried to stay true to the animation style of each character, though I could use alittle more practice immitating Nakajima's art style for Abel. And don't worry--Abel doesn't die whenever Alucard drinks his blood... he just feels alittle woozy afterwards. ^_~ I doubt this'll be my last attempt at Alucard/Abel fanart, so stay tuned if you're intrigued(or rather, check out Hellsing and Trinity Blood if you haven't already done so! x3)
Now, I would LOVE to listen to the reasoning behind this, I just find that kind of info incredibly interesting~ D:
...I don't even know where to begin @__@; I love the wall XD And how the black shading makes it seem as though they... blend together~ Although I do wish I could see all the lines, if only to see how you've drawn it~
Those hands and your anatomy, sooo molestable X3 The colouring always blows me away, the detail you put into everything you do never ceases to amaze me~ I do so grow tired of saying that Rami-Sama D: Can't you upload something... I dunno... BAD? Just... ya know... to prove that you're HUMAN. Freaking hell e__e You and your unearthly talent
I do like the longness of his tongue, and although, in my humble opinion I have no problem with it, it may be the pointed tip that irks ~limited-fantasy? BUT NEVER THE LESS. I can't find a SINGLE, even minute detail to critique e__e; Thumbs up alll round~
Goddamn, y'know, I thought I recognised that style (on Abel especially). So it IS Nakajima (maybe the slightly drugged expression gave it away). I forgot she worked on Trinity Blood.
You know you improve so damn much with each picture you whip out? It's kinda scary. Are you doing rituals of some sort? >_>
I friggin' love how you draw hands. Alucard's came out ESPECIALLY well. I agree the black shading works well - not too much to be confusing, but enough to be dark and mysterious and friggin' oh-god-they're-pressed-together hot. Hm. And your grasp of clothing and good-looking folds never ceases to amaze me.
What I really love, though, is the hair. I suppose I always look for that because I have such a difficult tiem making it...you know, fluid and natural. I adore long and/or curly hair when drawn well. Alucard's tendril-like hair is fitting as well as well done, too.
All I would say is Alucard's head looks slightly...squashed, in comparison to the length of his face. I dunno if it's just me, or the angle...gah, didn't sleep enough last night. Oh, and also the lighting on Alucard seems very harsh all over, compared to Abel's softer lighting. I'm assuming that's because Alucard is closer to the light source whereas Abel is somewhat blocked from it, but the light on Alucard's...bow and lapel seems a little too harsh, in that case.
Well, I'm gonna go and steal the last bit of cake. Really nice picture. *_*
